Ex-board chairman of NAC facing one count of conspiracy

THE former board chairman of the National Airports Corporation (NAC) Reuben Aila has been charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud by the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate. Directorate director Chief Supt Mathew Damaru said the allegation was that Aila, on July 31, 2018, signed a fraudulent employment contract with former NAC chief executive officer Richard Yopo – Aila as National Airports Corporation board chairman and Yopo as an employee.
The contract was to be effective from Aug 1, 2017, for four years for K950,000 per annum.
The contract was allegedly signed by Aila as the board chairman, Jerry Agus as deputy chairman and Yopo in the presence of Romata Geno the company secretary.
He said on May 1, 2018, Yopo allegedly signed another contract of employment with the NAC for three years with an option to renew.
It was for K1,300,000 per annum.

  • Some of us were engaged as contract officers but nothing compared to these rediculous figures to bring change and development for the benefit of our people of this beautiful nation. But saw fit to abuse this. Shame
