THE National Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has given K250,000 to the Anglimp Former Councillors’ Association in Jiwaka to help them build a new resource centre.
This will be used to carry out projects to help them and their families after retiring. More than 40 councillors will benefit.
Association chairman Andrew Rumba, from the Kuna-Kaip area, made this known to former councillors and their families on Independence Day.
He said they had submitted a proposal for K1 million to build the resource centre and the NGCB had come in to assist them with K250,000.
Rumba said their association came under the umbrella association of Western Highlands and Jiwaka Former Councillors’ Association.
He said there were also some former councillors’ associations in the two provinces but his association was fortunate to be the recipient of the NGCB assistance.
Rumba said this funding would go straight to the construction of the K1 million resource centre.
“We will be continuing to build more projects after this resource centre,” he said.
Rumba thanked Nelson Tep from the NTK business consultant for writing the proposal to the NGCB.He said after retirement councillors were not recognised.
