Explain next year’s school fee structure

I WANT the Education Department to inform parents about next year’s school fee structure.
My child recently graduated from Wardstrip Demonstration Primary School in Port Moresby and was selected to do grade 9 at Gordon Secondary School next year.
He informed me that next year’s school fee is K1,500.
Can the department confirm that amount?
If it is true then why are parents paying this hefty amount for grade 9 students?
I am happy to pay although it may be too much for an unemployed parent as me.
Can the department justify why parents have to pay K1,500 for grade 9 students?
What about the school fee assistance the Government announced when presenting this year’s budget last year?
Is the Government trying to kill struggling parents who are struggling to save K1,500 in a year?
