ExxonMobil PNG managing-director Andrew Barry and executive-director for production Dinesh Sivasamboo met with 25 new employees and interns who work in ExxonMobil PNG’s operations department.
During the meeting, both men, who have a combined 53 years’ experience with ExxonMobil, shared their own experiences to inspire the new employees and interns.
“There’s opportunity both in the country as well as outside,” Sivasamboo said.
“Once you get into ExxonMobil PNG, you open up for yourself a world of opportunities.
“You’re already best at what you do, so you just have to excel.
“You’re on a level playing field when you join and everything is performance-based.”
Graduate engineer Jaybesteen Kekeya said: “The story from Andrew and Dinesh about how they travelled and moved from various job roles and places gave insight on the many amazing possibilities and opportunities that are right at the fingertips of any employee in this organisation (ExxonMobil).
“It only comes down to the employee to uphold the core values of the organisation while performing the best that they can and letting the quality of their work speak for itself.
“I believe it is a great learning experience to let someone think critically, analyse the different options, weigh it out and take the steps which will be efficient and effective in achieving the desired results.”
