A MAN charged with sex-related offences has been committed to trial in the National Court.
Jacob Mara, 24, from Kaliponga village in Western Highlands will defend himself against one count each of carnal knowledge, deprivation of liberty, indecent assault, sexual penetration and attempted murder.
Committal Court Magistrate Ernest Wilmot ordered that Mara remained in custody until Oct 23.
The court heard that on Mar 24, Mara and his relatives Jerry Mamando, Isaac Kelia and his wife and two other men travelled in a vehicle to the home of Mara’s former spouse and allegedly abducted her.
She was allegedly tortured, sexually assaulted and threatened to be killed.
