FINANCE Corporation Ltd (Fincorp) chief asset management officer Adam Hughes was read his false declaration charge in the Waigani Committal Court yesterday.
Magistrate Tracy Ganaii then adjourned his case to Nov 26 to allow police time to produce a file and converted Hughes’ police bail of K1,000 to court bail and imposed conditions.
Hughes, 52, of Melbourne, Victoria was alleged to have falsely declared on oath a commissioned affidavit dated and filed on Aug 3, 2018, at the National Court that as a plaintiff and registered mortgagee, he would not consent to the sale of mortgaged property below market value to any person, but discharged the property for K700,000 below the market price.
Police said the property was owned by Susan Sei (complainant), who mortgaged it to Finance Corporation Ltd (Fincorp) for a loan.
