Fan raises concern over grand final match time

A FOOTBALL fan has expressed concern over the 7pm kick-off for tomorrow’s Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) grand final at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
Michael Tamty Pais told The National that many fans and supporters of the game do not have access to affordable transport to attend the match between reigning champions Lae City and rookies Vitiaz United.
“Some of us live far and it’s not going to be safe to walk back home after the game at night, even with others,” he said.
Pais said women and girls are facing the same situation. NSL acting manager Dirimit Mileng said yesterday that fans who could not make it to the game could watch the game on EMTV.
“Because of the partnership we have with EMTV, they wanted to broadcast the game live so we had to comply,” he said.
“It’s our first time to partner EMTV or any television station for the broadcasting of the games live on TV.”
Mileng said it was a difficult decision and they could have had the games during the day but had to comply with the partner to keep the relationship going.

  • Although partnership is also important for NSL, it is also equally important for fans and supporters to watch this important match live.

Games could have been played at 4pm where a replay telecast at 7pm by Emtv is also not a bad decision.
