FC Wantok challenged by Central’s Kempa

FC Wantok held off Kempa to win 3-1 in the men’s A-League match on Saturday at PNG Football Stadium.
Wantok featuring Hekari United signings Kolu brothers Ati and Kepo, David Muta, Daniel Joe, Nathan James and Willie Gia, had to bank on every ounce of their collective guile and experience against the Central men who were not intimidated by the Reds threat.
Wantok took a hard-earned 2-0 lead into the sheds at halftime but did not have it any easier in the second stanza.
Nathan James goaled for Wantok and things looked to be a easier ride but Kempa were relentless with midfielder Patrick Nota heading in a consolation goal which was just reward for a whole-hearted team effort.Kempa coach sending the game was slipping away had to make some changes but this could not save them as time ran out of them. Nota and Raga Iga had stints with Hekari in the National Premier League and shone in both attack and defence.
