THE Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG) has announced its dates for selection trials which will be held next month.
The trial dates are Dec 4-5 (Lae’s Eric Woo Basketball Courts), Dec 14 (Goroka’s National Sports Institute) and Dec 18-19 (Port Moresby’s Sir John Guise Indoor Complex).
BFPNG president Karo Lelai said in a statement that those wishing to try out for the national teams must make their way to the venues and participate in the trials at their own cost.
“There will be a K10 registration fee for each athlete trying out and a limit of 15 men and 15 women per association,” she said.
“For athletes attending the Goroka trials, the National Sports Institute has affordable accommodation and meal rates, and you can contact them to make bookings.
“The trials will include fitness tests, skills tests, drills and scrimmaging.
“BFPNG is also monitoring our citizen athletes who are based overseas.”
Lelai said registration for athletes intending to take part in the trials was important with associations and players reminded to present identification documents.
“We also encourage all associations to remind their athletes to sort out their national identification cards and passports before trying out for the national teams,” she said.
