THE Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG) remains keen on continuing its activities and programmes for this year despite the 14-day lockdown of the nation’s capital.
BFPNG executive officer Nick Daroa told The National last week that the lockdown had affected operations with the closure of their head office at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre.
“All tenants had instructed to move out on Wednesday due to the facility now being used as an isolation centre,” he said.
“The lockdown will delay the programmes that we have in schools, colleges and universities.
“We’ve recently started with our Australian Aid and International Basketball Federation-funded Hoops 4 Health activities at the Pacific Adventist University, Don Bosco, Boroko Primary, Gerehu and Olympic Day celebrations at Ela Beach.
“We are now rolling out the programmes in Mt Hagen, Southern Highlands and other regional centres.
“Our annual general meeting will be held in Port Moresby on Aug 29 with election of office bearers and discussions on activities going forward.” Meanwhile, Daroa thanked all their programme partners for their input.
“These are programmes developed by our board led by our president Karo Lelai,” he said.
