Festivals and landowners

Letters

THIS time every year two places in the country celebrate Independence in different and special ways.
There is the Hiri Moale Festival in Port Moresby or Central and the Goroka Show in Eastern Highlands.
But a fact worth mentioning is that the Hiri Moale Festival pays close attention to the customary landowners on whose land now sits the capital city of Papua New Guinea.
The Goroka Show doesn’t showcase who the true owners of Goroka are.
Although there are other traditional landowners of the township of Goroka, the name itself is of concern.
The organising committee of this show should do what is now happening at Ela Beach.
