THERE is overwhelming support for Football Federation PNG in Madang if last week’s meeting with Madang urban football followers is any indication.
FFPNG northern coordinator Stanley Khanna and FFPNG president John Kapi Natto was in Madang to launch the FFPNG programme and get another National Premier League for Madang soccer fans.
Khanna confirmed that the support for football was always there but the administrators needed to leave the comfort of their office to see what football could offer.
“I am pleased to team up with FFPNG to drive the message to the rural population who have been neglected for long time by football administrations,” he said.
FFPNG has covered Morobe well and is now moving into Madang and Bogia. The FFPNG team will move in the heartland of East Sepik in Maprik to launch the Maprik Football Association which now aligned with FFPNG under Kapi Natto.
Khanna said the Madang meeting was successful and the people there were ready to jump on board the FFPNG band wagon.
FFPNG’s next move will be to East Sepik.
According to Sepik Football Federation president Edmun Tupui, the preparations were underway to launch the Sepik Premier Soccer League competition on Friday.
The 10 confirmed to take part are: Maykamti United FC, Urat FC, Angoram FC, Yuat FC, Maprik FC, Amaku FC, Kambu FC, Gawi FC, Island Fox FC, Wullet FC.
These premier clubs will be playing qualifying matches to enter the next level of FFPNG champions league and other sanctioned games.
