THE National Soccer League round three fixture between Souther Strikers and Besta PNG United scheduled to be played in Port Moresby on Saturday was deferred to a later date due to wet weather.
The NSL board confirmed the deferral after viewing the conditions of the Bisini soccer ground which was flooded and not suitable to host games. The first deferral was made on Saturday but as rain continued yesterday, the decision was reached that the match will be played as a wash-out game at a later date.
Meanwhile, the Besta United team that were in Port Moresby over the weekend will return to Lae today.
The PNG Academy side who have been impressive in their first two games are scheduled for a bye this weekend.
Southern Strikers, who have missed two games in round one due to non-availability of a venue and the second in round three due to weather conditions, are now scheduled to play two wash-out games against FC Momase and Besta PNG United.
Meanwhile in Lae, the NSL double-header went ahead with Toti City FC securing a big 7-2 win over the visiting Madang FC and FC Morobe Wawens registered their first win of the semi-professional competition beating Buang FC 2-1 on Saturday.
However, Toti City, who are the defending champions claim outright lead in the NSL ladder after round three.
