Files served on men, woman accused of abduction, rape

POLICE have informed a court that files on an abduction and rape case against a woman and four men have been completed and served on them.
Police prosecutor Sergeant McKenzie Ken informed the court that files on the case of Vanessa Ako Gami, 25, from Gazelle’s Tavulumai village in East New Britain; Ako Toua, 48, of Hanuabada in National Capital District; Nicolas Fraser, 44, from Pari village in NCD; Lawrence Sausau, 30, from Pitiliu, Manus; and, Sibona Mairi, 25, from Central had been served on them pending submissions.
“Files have been served on them pending their defence submissions as they have separate lawyers representing them,” Ken the court.
Lawyer Fredrick Lunge represented Toua, lawyer John Sinakagoava represented Fraser and Maira and Office of the Public Solicitor lawyer Jeffery Kolowe represented Gami.
Committal Court Magistrate Danny Wakikura in Waigani told the lawyers to file defence submissions for their clients and adjourned the case to May 30.
Police alleged that on Feb 14, Vanessa Ako Gami called the victim to meet at her mother’s house in Gordon.
Sausau and Ako Toua allegedly arrived with guns and started questioning her about a bank card which she denied any knowledge of.
Toua allegedly took the woman to a bedroom where his wife, Gami, was and offered her a drug and showed her pornographic videos.
Toua and Gami allegedly gave her the drug before inviting her to have sex with them.
