Finance, central bank deputies finalise items for meeting

The Apec finance and central bank deputies have finalised several items for next year’s finance ministers’ process which they will present at the finance ministers’ meeting today.
Department of Treasury deputy Secretary Manu Momo, in his opening remarks yesterday, said Papua New Guinea and Chile had been working together to ensure a successful financial ministers’ process in 2018 and smooth transition to 2019.
“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Chile as the Apec 2019 host,” he said.
“Our two economies have been working closely throughout this year to ensure a successful finance ministers’ process this year.
“PNG is committed to continuing with this engagement and we look forward to Chile’s presentation at the finance ministers’ meeting.
“This is our second and final finance and central bank deputies’ meeting 2018. A key focus for today’s meeting is to ensure that everything is in order for the 2018 finance minister’s meeting and we are well placed to make a transition to 2019. There will be discussions on accelerated infrastructure development and financing.
“The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will present one of the key deliverables for 2019 and PNG will outline the report it will be making to ministers today. The working group on marine debris has also been invited to update the meeting on work they are undertaking into bankable infrastructure projects in waste management.”
