Finance to fix arrears

GRAND Columbia Ltd is working with the Finance Department to resolve the issue of outstanding rental arrears, management says.
A statement from the management of Grand Columbia Ltd (GCL), said its decision to lock their buildings was because of rental arrears issues.
The management of GCL said they were concerned about the length of time it was taking for the payment of outstanding rentals.
This followed the closure of Government departments and agencies offices this year.
FinCorp Haus, which was occupied by the Education Department, was closed this month because of non-payment of rental arrears amounting to K39 million.
The statement explained that their primary concern was to open the FinCorp Haus as soon as possible to allow the Education Department to continue work.
GCL had requested the Treasury and Finance Department along with (Government Office Allocation Committee) to come up with an arrears settlement plan to allow for this to happen.
GCL had appealed to the Government to settle the mounting debt and agreed to a repayment plan to keep department offices open.
