FINANCIAL service provider FinCorp says it will be riding on technological advancement to improve its services.
Chief executive Tony Witham said that as the only licensed non-banking financial institution in the country, FinCorp was planning to make use of internet technology and smartphones to roll out its financial services.
He said the future looked promising for them as they planned to make financial services convenient and safe for their clients.
Witham and company chairman Sir Nagora Bogan were in Kokopo yesterday for the opening of the company’s new office.
The office is located on the ground floor of the Agmark Building, on Williams Road.
“In the next couple of years as telecommunications improve, FinCorp will be an innovator,” Witham said.
“We would like to introduce in the foreseeable future, applications to do transactions so you don’t need to carry cash. We see that as an innovator to the financial institutions as no one does it at the moment.”
Witham said there had been security issues in the past with handling of cash. “The more we use mobile phones, the better we are,” he said.
“Next year we’re looking at recruiting a number of people to upgrade our technologies and make it easier for Papua New Guineans to access our financial services.
