Fined for breaching visa rules

TWO Chinese men who pleaded guilty to breaching their visa conditions were fined K2,000 each at the Waigani District Court on Thursday.
Magistrate Danny Wakikura said a failure to pay the fine within a timeframe of three working days would result in imprisonment of two and half months for the pair.
The two men paid the fines and were allowed into the custody of their guarantor, with the two expected to be deported next month.
The two men identified as Yandi Guo, from Qukou Yizhuang village, Gangtou, China, and Liangxing Lin, from Youyi village, Longtian, China, both entered the country on a working resident employment entry permit (visa).
Yandi was issued his visa under a company identified as Yixing Investment Ltd located at Hohola while Liangxing was issued his visa under a company identified as Everise Inn Trading Limited.
Liangxing was found to have disobeyed the obligation imposed on him by changing his employer without acquiring a proper working resident employment visa.
The act by Liangxing was an offence under Section 16 (1) (a) (d) of the Migration Act 1978 (Chapt 16).
Yandi, on the other hand, was found with a visa that had expired on Jan 4, but was working at JKLIN Seafood Co Ltd kai bar in Badili.
