Fire destroys LLG admin building

FIRE has destroyed an administration building belonging to the Pobuma local level government (LLG) in Manus, according to police.
Manus police said the fire occurred on Saturday at Pelipowai where the Pobuma LLG administration was located.
The building caught fire between 3am and 5am.
Manus police commander Chief Insp David Yapu told The National in Kokopo yesterday that he was informed of the incident by LLG manager Joseph N’drasal.
Yapu said he sent a team of police CIDs to the area to investigate the incident.
Yapu said there was no suspect at this stage but he believed that it could be an election-related incident.
“I am appealing to the newly elected ward members of Pobuma LLG and community leaders of respective wards to work together to identify suspects responsible for burning down of LLG administration building and bring those involved to the police,” Yapu said.
