FIRECRACKERS are not allowed on any Air Niugini flights as they are considered explosives and have dangerous substances that could cause fire, according to the airline.
The airline warned passengers travelling in from the border town of Vanimo, as well as Wewak, Madang and Lae, during the Christmas peak period, not to carry firecrackers or fireworks onboard its aircraft either on their person or as checked baggage or consigned cargo.
“Firecrackers are dangerous goods and forbidden for carriage in a passenger or cargo aircraft as per the Civil Aviation Act (2000),” it said.
“Offenders can be imprisoned for a term not exceeding seven years.
“Full screening will be carried out at the airports.”
