Business

KUMUL Minerals Holdings Ltd (KMHL) yesterday announced the appointment of David Laulau as registered mine manager for SML (special mining lease) 11, the Porgera mine in Enga.
Chairman and acting managing director Peter Graham said Laulau was qualified for the role as he held required certificates of competency for both open pit and underground metalliferous mines.
“Laulau is expected to establish on site shortly,” he said.
Graham further noted that Barrick Niugini Ltd would continue to have responsibility for the care and maintenance of equipment and infrastructure at the mine under the terms of the mine development contract until such time as a way forward was determined. He added that efforts to negotiate a commercial agreement with Barrick on a without-prejudice basis had recently commenced while Barrick continued to pursue various matters related to licensing in the PNG courts.

  • Congratulations David, let the name of our good Lord be glorified on your new post.

  • Congratulations, now let’s prove to the world we can run and operate our own mine

  • Congratulation to David on your appointment to the top post in the mining industry.
You have been on the spot light with few handful of Papua New Guinea and your appointment is timely to prove to the world that we can manage and do our job better by ourselves.
Once again, congratulations to you on behalf of PNG, especially Jiwakans.

  • Yes you can run and operate your own mine, but you cannot build one from scratch on your own.

You still need investors with expertise to BUILD a mine before you can claim it to be your own after the investor’s lease expires. Something totally different from just running and owning one using investors assets and infrastructures.

  • PNG has not built a mine in its history. This is very important for KMHL to note. KMHL needs to grow capital and invest in exploration and to build a mine. Once all exploration data is finalised and size of the valuable metal is estimated and looks viable to mine (profitable) then intensive planing takes place. If the mine will be open pit or underground. For the process plant ore sample will be tested to determine process units that will be employed to extract the valuable metal to a final product in the form of dore bar or concentrate for shipment.

KMHL at first can look at building small or medium scale mines like Tolukuma, K92, Simberi and woodlark island.

Where to start exploration check with MRA for potential exploration locations in PNG. To name a few Anir Island deposit (New Ireland), Tatau and Big Tabar island (New Ireland), Hurtol and Hunio deposits Lihir Island (New Ireland), New Hanover deposit( New Ireland), Prince Alexander deposit (East Sepik ), Simbai deposit (Madang) and many more in PNG.

Thank you PMJM for going down this part it is a start and in the near future we will “Build” , Commision, Operate and Maintain KMHL mines. Do not listen to foreign or PNG advisers who speak alot of negativity when it comes to KMHL mining endeavors, advisors have been paid millions in the past they have led PNG to the cliff. Be the PM that led PNG away from the cliff and onto the path of Gold!
