PNG Air has cancelled flights into the Esa’ala, in Milne Bay, and Tufi, in Northern, until further notice.
According to a statement from the airline, the cancellation of the Esa’ala service was due to regulatory restrictions, all plans to operate commercial services had been postponed.
“The closest port to Esa’ala where we operate three times a week is Losuia, Kiriwina,” it said.
“PNG Air will continue to work with the provincial administrator to be able to provide a service to the people of Esa’ala in the near future.”
The cancellation of flights to Tufi was due to operational strip restrictions with the airline ceasing its commercial services into the Northern town effective immediately.
“The closest port to Tufi will now be Popondetta,” the airline said.
“PNG Air has serviced Tufi for a vast number of years operating four times a week.
“Should new information become available, PNG Air will advise accordingly.”
