SHORNCLIFFE Ltd has brought a second jetpatcher machine to help repair and patch potholes in the National Capital District.

Shorncliffe has been engaged by the National Capital District Commission to patch potholes on the major roads in the city.

The first jetpatcher is being used in Morobe.

Yesterday, jetpatcher distributor Jetpatcher Corporation Ltd and Shorncliffe Ltd demonstrated how the machine worked at Famagusta Street behind the Lamana Hotel.

Witnessing the demonstration was NCD Governor Powes Parkop, acting city manager Leslie Alu, deputy city manager  works and engineering Simon Vai and NCDC officials.

Parkop said potholes had been an ongoing problem in the city and must be fixed.

“We need this type of equipment and technology to solve this ongoing problem in our city,” he said.

Parkop said another way to stop potholes was to have a proper drainage system on the roads. But it is an expensive exercise.

Jetpatcher Corporation Ltd director Jim Turnbull has been in the civil industry for 25 years and has more than 500 machines in service around the world.

Turnbull said they would conduct training for local staff of Shorncliffe and NCDC works and engineering officers on how to use the machine.
