GRADE 8 students of Hagara Primary School in Hanuabada, Port Moresby, received 60 new chairs and tables from Origin Energy last week for their new classrooms.
In presenting the furniture, Origin Energy chief executive officer Lesieli Taviri told the students that education was a privilege that should not be taken lightly.
“You need to use whatever gifts God gives you, use it to the best of your ability to give back to your school, family, community and country,” she told the students.
The donation came as part of a partnership between Origin Energy and Motu Koitabu Assembly to support education and other areas in Motu Koitabu villages.
“We are a small business located at Kanudi and we are proud that 33 per cent of our employees are from the local communities,” Taviri said.
“We employ people from Hanuabada, Tatana, Baruni, to Papa and Lea Lea.”
Taviri said Origin Energy was also supporting remote schools in PNG with solar lights for students to use.
