THE Nenehi Dubu and Laurina Idibana clans of Tatana have launched their landowner company to take part in the Motukea port development.

Through their five incorporated land groups, they registered and launched the Motukea Landowner Holdings Limited.

The incorporated land groups are Veidiho Daure, Nenehi Dubu, Laurina, Nenehi and Idibana.

Chairman of the Veidiho Daure Land Group Inc Tom Sale Belem said as legitimate traditional landowners of the Motukea Island, they wanted to be recognised as partners in the important project.

“The Government expects billions of kina on this project once in full operation.

“A lot of job opportunities will surely be created. So it is one objective the Motukea Landowner Holdings would ensure that we participate in that development and are prioritised for those jobs.”

Belem said the purpose of setting up Motukea Land Holdings Ltd was to seek a 20 per cent shareholding in the major stevedoring contract and ongoing wharf services for the long-term sustainability of their people.
