PUMA Energy, as part of its community service programme, last week handed over a K300,000 ablution block to the Baruni Primary School in NCD.

It was a timely gesture for the school having started the 2016 year and the project was a boost to the 500 students and 20 teaching staff.

Puma Energy PNG country manager Jim Collings said the project strengthened the bond between the company and the community.

He said the project was part of the company’s commitment of over K1 million that they have invested in the communities around their project are.

Collings said Puma donated 60 desks to the school because they were a critical need and called on the children to look after the assets.

“Without the education of our children, our future is bleak; they are the most important resources we have for the future.

“We must have the blessing of having the children and taken ownership of their development their growth as individuals and collectively as community. “We have seen the output of some children of this school, who are now our staff at the refinery. They are very productive, very skilled and talented and they are a huge asset to our organisation.

“Equally, children, you are the assets and the leaders of the future. Take care of each other and your school and your future.”
