Firm graduates 14 cadets

PNG Forest Products Ltd (PNGFPL) in Bulolo, Morobe, graduated 14 apprenticeship cadets in 11 trades and is keen to train and develop professionals to work in the country’s forestry sector.
Four women were among the group of graduates who earned certificates in the fields of auto electrical, carpentry, electrical, fitting and machining, heavy equipment fitting, metal fabrication and welding, motor mechanics plumbing, refrigeration mechanics, saw doctoring and wood machinist.
PNGFPL human resources manager Shane Byrne said the company made it a point to recruit and train workers in a wide range of trades and skills involved in the forestry sector.
“PNG Forest Products aims to train future leaders to take on leadership roles in forestry,” he said.
“We impart workplace skills to young nationals to develop them to become competent leaders in the industry.
“We also want to train young people to benefit their communities.”
