Firm presents books to elementary school

NIU Power Ltd (NPL) presented 1,000 books to Lealea Elementary School in Central last week as part of its social and community obligation to help communities in the Central and Port Moresby.
The NPL external affairs manager Wellington Bellawa said the company had been involved with community initiatives in Central and the National Capital District and it had selected Lealea and five other elementary schools in Central to present 6,000 books bought from the Book Bilong Pikinini organisation (Bbp) at a cost of K15,000.
Bellawa said the company was committed to funding and supporting resourcing and facilitating projects that would bring a tangible benefit to the community such as in education.
He said Lealea was the second recipient after Papa Elementary School and they would also visit Boera, Porebada and Akodi elementary schools as well to distribute 1,000 books.
Bellawa said the company would help build school infrastructure and improve access to drinking water.
Lealea Elementary head teacher Konio Havea acknowledged the contribution made by NPL and its partner, Bbp for helping to build and invest in human resource development.
