THE Institute of Business Studies University (IBSU) has attained certification from the International Organisation of Standardisation (ISO).
Based in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organisation with a membership of 164 national standards bodies.
According to its website, the organisation “brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Ramachandran Arunachalam said IBSU was the first university in the country to be accredited with the highly acclaimed award following German standards.
“It is historical and an important milestone for IBSU in the country and internationally,” he said.
Arunachalam said the ISO audited organisations and institution around the world according to a set of accepted standards.
“They audited IBSU three times in 2019 for criteria and requirement checks before certification on Jan 14 this year,” he said.
“Since 1989, IBS provided certificate and diploma programmes on various business courses and grew from there on in 2016 we established IBSU.”
“These are evidence of a functional tertiary institution providing quality education for students through standard learning facilities, infrastructures, teaching resources, and teaching staff including partnership with universities in Australia, especially Southern Cross and Deakin universities.
“The accreditation is a benchmark for IBSU to deliver education at ISO standard, especially Germany’s educational framework of quality administration and operational systems and procedures.”
Arunachalam said the ISO certificate would only be valid for three years (2020 to 2023).
