LAE-based small goods manufacturing company, the Prima Small Goods Ltd, has jumped on the sponsorship wagon for new franchise, the Gulf Isapeas, as one of the sponsors with K35,000.
Company general manager Adrian Chow made the commitment yesterday after announcing that Prima Small Goods will be a long term partners with the new franchise.
It is also the first time for the company to be involved at the semi-professional level.
“We are coming on board to support a franchise in the Digicel Cup challenge because we have confidence in the executives and with the LNG project, our products like sausages, pork and meat enjoyed by our customers throughout PNG, and in Gulf, is one way of giving back to our customers.
“This sponsorship is part of our ongoing commitment to assist our customers and the communities in which they live,” Chow said.
He said the sponsorship would be reviewed every year.
“Isapeas face a huge challenge. It has come from nothing. After establishing an executive and management team, they have formulated  a business plan to recruit coaches, players and to create grassroots support.
“Our company’s sponsorship package will assist in these areas,” Chow said.
He added that the company had confidence in the executive and shared their vision to promote the Gulf community through sport, especially rugby league.
Isapeas chairman Sarea Soi thanked the company for the support and hoped it continued their relationship in the coming years.
“We are grateful to have company coming on board to be our foundation sponsor and we thank you very much,” Soi said.
Another company, Hydraulink Niugini, has also thrown its support behind the Isapeas.
Hydraulink manager Barry Lepper donated four rugby league balls to the franchise.
Despite small, it made a big difference because it is in line with the initiative implemented by Gulf Governor Havila Kavo to revive rugby league in the province.
Soi acknowledged the support of Lepper and his  staff, saying the balls were important because it would play a big role in delivering the message of reviving the game in Gulf.
