The Hohola Flies beat the Paga Panthers 8-4 to end their unbeaten start in the Port Moresby Rugby League (PRL) women’s competition at the National Football Stadium on Saturday.
The Flies went into the break leading 4-0 through an unconverted try by Papua New Guinea Orchids’ Mala Mark.
They went on to seal the match through an unconverted try by Jacklyn Sele in the second half.
Paga’s only points came from five-eighth Shirley Luke when she scored an unconverted try in the dying minutes of the match.
Mark caused a lot of problems for the opposition.
Mark was supported by fellow international Cathy Neap who inspired her charges in attack and defence.
Paga missed the services of captain and international Janet Michael who was unavailable for selection due to study commitments.
In other results, the Northern Motel Butterflies were held by the Eda Ranu Dobo Warriors in a scoreless encounter.
The Kone Storms forfeited the Maganis after the Central side failed to bring their uniforms.
PRL competition coordinators are yet to confirm the standings.
