BULOLO Forestry College staff were prompted into planning evacuation methods for students after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the area yesterday.
College principal Eko Maiguo said they did not have evacuation plans to assist students and staff at times of disaster because they had not experienced such a massive shock before.
He said for the safety of students and staff, the management would meet to discuss responsive measures to prepare for the worst.
“The buildings we have are very old, they were built in the ‘50s. When the earth shook, we all ran out into the open thinking that they would collapse, but nothing happened and no one was hurt,” he said.
“At the moment we do not have any evacuation plans but after today, we will discuss strategies if faced with serious situations like this.”
