Follow rules, schools told

ALL schools in Morobe are to observe Covid-19 protocols at all times when classes starts on Feb 1, acting education adviser Keith Tangui says.
“This is an important message to all school principals, head teachers, teachers in-charge, boards of management, students, parents and citizens that we still have to be strict with the protocols,” Tangui said.
He said it was only nine months since Covid-19 was first reported in the province and the country and schools in Morobe had to maintain strict protocols once they opened.
“Despite Morobe not reporting new cases of late, it does not mean that the disease has gone away,” Tangui said.
“It is here and will always be around.
“So we must be cautious about our safety and health.”
He said school administrations both in town and in rural areas had to be strict with students in observing health and safety measures.
Tangui urged schools to continue with measures in place last year for students, teachers and the board of management and parents to follow.
He called on parents and guardians of students from elementary to secondary schools in the province to support their children as much as possible in this regard.
“This is a health situation that has affected nearly all areas of our livelihoods one way or the other,” Tangui said.
“All we have to do is abide by the protocols in place so that our education is not disturbed and we prevent its spread.”
