WORLD Vision and Cookie Time Ltd’s One Square Meal will become food partners in the 40-Hour Famine from June 7-9.

Funds raised from this event will be given to Papua New Guinea where 43% of children had their growth stunted by malnourishment.

World Vision chief executive officer Chris Clarke said: “There’s a degree of synergy between the two organisations. Alleviating hunger and solving nutritional challenges is fundamental to World Vision’s work and One Square Meal has significant relevance in this area as a potential emergency and survival food.”

One Square Meal has been recommended as the “perfect last meal prior to embarking on the 40-hour famine as it’s a complete meal in a convenient food bar”.

It provides one third of an adult’s recommended daily intake of energy, protein, carbohydrates, good fat and dietary fibre.

Cookie Time Ltd general manager Lincoln Booth said the company was proud to support the 40-hour famine.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of New Zealand’s most trusted development organisations and encourage on-going debate about nutritional balance.

“One Square Meal fills a gap in the known foods available and defies the conventional notion that a meal to go or on the go cannot be nutritious or able to sustain you.

“With the world confronting significant nutritional challenges, the time is ripe for a response that delivers balanced, vital and known nutrition,” Booth said.
