COMMUTERS in Port Moresby have been warned to be vigilant as carjacking in the capital city is increasing.

Metropolitan commander Supt Andy Bawa said opportunists were involved in random carjacking at various locations.

Bawa said he was aware of two failed attempts of carjacking at the Koki Market crossing this week.

He said police were deployed to the hotspots during peak hours to prevent carjacking and related

crimes.

He appealed to residents and commuters to report any suspicious movements by youths to the

police.

The city police chief said his men would continue to patrol the hotspots to prevent further carjacking.
