THE Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) presented training gear to the six Southern Conference teams of the Women’s National Soccer League (WNSL).
Competition director Paul Isorua said the equipment were from the association’s activities with the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) which included cone markers and match balls.
He said although the gear had arrived late as the conference stage of the WNSL had just concluded, the clubs could still use them next season.
“The equipment were surplus gear from OFC and since they heard that our WNSL competition was active and going forward, they sent them to us,” Isorua said.
“I understand that the competition is already done but they could also use it for their future training programmes.” Some gear were presented to the eight Northern Conference teams in Lae last weekend.
In a small presentation yesterday at PNG Football Stadium, WNSL interim committee deputy chairman Deslyn Siniu acknowledged PNGFA and handed the gear to the representatives of three of the six clubs.
In attendance to receive the equipment were Genesis’ Rumona Morris and Lea Loi, Hekari United skipper Marie Kaipu and Amoana skipper Phillis Pala.
The other three clubs — Port Moresby City, Port Moresby Academy and National Capital District — were not available to receive their gear.
The gear will boost the teams’ training, especially for Hekari and Genesis who are preparing for next Saturday’s semifinals in Lae.
