PRIME Minister James Marape has called on the Ombudsman Commission to continue with their good work without fear or favour.
Marape made the comment during the farewell ceremony of former Chief Ombudsman Michael Dick on Friday in Port Moresby.
Dick served as an ombudsman from Feb 14, 2015 to Feb 13, 2017 and as Chief Ombudsman from Feb 14 to Oct 4 this year. He has reached retirement age.
“Let me say thank you to Mr Dick for your service to your country. You have served in various capacities and your exit has nothing to do with your performance but more to do with legal boundaries that we have legally have in place that has caused you to leave this important institution,” Marape said.
Marape said the Government noted the important role Dick played in the ombudsman commission and announced that the government would not dilute the important role of ombudsman commission but stand to straighten its role.
