A FOREIGNER who alleged took money from another person but failed to repay it has appeared in court last week over a charge of obtaining money by false pretence.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar adjourned the case of David Huang Zhi Wei from Naingzinlu village Shanghai in China to Dec 6.
Police alleged that in 2014, he had approached James Wang Wei Ping about renting the latter’s property at Erima in Port Moresby for 10 years for K10,000 a month.
Later Wei borrowed K60,000 from Ping and promised to repay it.
In 2016, he still had not repaid the money. But he asked Ping for another K60,000 and promised to repay K140,000 as his total debt.
When confronted recently, he told police that he would repay the money within two weeks. He failed to do that too.
When he was arrested, he paid K70, 000 to Ping on Sep 20 and promised to pay the remaining K70,000 on Oct 4. He again failed to do that.
