FORMER Lae City manager Roy Kamen has been arrested and charged by police and is out on K4000 police bail.
Lae Metropolitan Chief Superintendant Anthony Wagambie Jr confirmed that Kamen was arrested and charged on four counts.
According to Wagambie, the former city manager was charged under the Public Finance Management Act and the Criminal Code Act.
Wagambie said Lae police fraud squad arrested and charged Kamen on one count of breaching the Public Finance Management Act and three counts under the Criminal Code in relation to false pretence, false accounting and abuse of public office.
With the investigations going on now, more arrests are expected to be made in the coming days and weeks over the same alleged offences.
The arrest was done following a 2014 audit report.
Kamen confirmed that he was arrested and charged and was optimistic that he would defend himself successfully in court.
