Former Kumuls critical of lack of consideration for talent

TWO former PNG Kumuls Joshua Kouoru and Tuksy Karu have called on the Southern Confederation director Gwaibo Mairi and selectors for fair selections of players to represent the region.
“We called on our good brother Gwaibo Mairi and national selectors Gairo Pepena and Philip Boge to select players from all the 17 affiliates,” Kouoru said.
“This is uncalled for as Central Provincial League women’s were unbeaten in pool B and none of their players were selected.
“There are several deserving players there who should have been given a chance.”
The pair said the confederation should have disregarded the administrative issues that had hindered the selection of some players.
They said the Central Premier League was not the only side that had breached the PNGRFL rule that a player regiostered in one league could not play for another league.
They claimed that other sides had been guilty of the same charge but still had their players picked.
Karu said it was disappointing toi see that selectors had picked on reputation and not form.
He said some of the players that made it were not fit or had the speed, skills and stamina to be effective.
