Former MP charged with embezzlement

FORMER South Fly MP Sali Subam has appeared at the Waigani Committal Court last Friday on a charge of misappropriation where he was alleged to have involved with others to misappropriate K6 million in public funds.
The matter was mentioned in court but Magistrate Ernest Wilmot adjourned to Aug 23 for Subam to be arraigned as police files had not been presented to his lawyer.
Police have alleged that the funds were allocated to renovate health workers’ homes in Western.
Subam, 64, of Garaita village in Morehead, South Fly, was allegedly involved in the misappropriation with others, including Kiriwina-Goodenough MP Douglas Tomuriesa and his wife, who were also currently under court proceedings at Waigani Committal Court.
