Former PRL high flyers to stage reunion

A FORMER Port Moresby Rugby League club Air Niugini is hosting a reunion for former players and officials on Nov 24 at Air Niugini village 5-Mile.
Reunion committee member Archie Mai said: “We are appealing to all our colleagues to be part of this reunion as it will reestablish relationships and friendship again since 1993 when the club disbanded.
Mai said Air Niugini entered the Port Moresby Rugby League competition in 1981 and won the A grade back-to-back premierships from 1988-1989.
“It was the first club in PNG to fly in PNG Kumuls Philip Ralda from Mt Hagen, Late Tuiyo Evie from Goroka, Joe Tona fromMadang, Joe Gispe, Bernard Wakesti from Bougainville and Francis Hennessey from Popndetta,” Mai said.
“There are other players like late John Oeka, Jack Harry, David Mune, John Gabisini who went on to represent Southern Zone.”
