THE Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POM RFL) has fined four clubs for non-payment of affiliation fees ahead of the competition’s opening round at the weekend.
Kone Tigers, Magani, Royals and Tarangau were each slapped with a K1,000 fine as per POMRFL’s delegates meeting ahead of the opening round last week.
The league said each club should make it their responsibility to settle their fines before round two kicks off this weekend.
POMRFL chairman Dr James Naipao confirmed that Hanuabada Hawks, Rapopo Sanctuary Hotel Paga Panthers, Defence, Hohola Flies, Bige Gulf West, Eda Ranu Dobo Warriors, Kone Storms and NGCB Butterflies had paid their affiliation for the season and are clear to take part in matches.
Dr Naipao appealed to clubs to meet the compliance to avoid inconveniences.
He said club executives and team managements should make every effort to start paying up their players registrations of K50 each.
“All the players registrations is paid directly to PNG Rugby Football League account and POMRFL does not benefit from it,” Dr Naipao added.
“This covers players insurance for permanent injuries or deaths sustained on the field of play.”
He added that the league was not liable for the wellbeing unregistered players.
