FOUR local level government (LLG) council chambers in Chimbu have received equipment worth K36,000 to boost capacity and assist in the delivery of the Government’s rural service delivery project (RSDP).
The RSDP is a Government-funded project delivered through the Department of Provincial and Local Government Affairs (DPLGA) which aims to improve access to basic infrastructure and services to target rural communities, using inclusive participatory planning and implementation.
This would be achieved through a community-driven development (CDD) approach, emphasising the principles of transparency, accountability and sustainability.
The recipient LLGs are Siane LLG in Chuave, Suwai LLG in Sinasina-Yongomugl, Kumai Bomai LLG in Gumine and Gena-Waugla LLG in Kerowagi.
The equipment includes four generator sets, four sets of desktop computers with all accessories and fuel drums for each of the four LLG chambers.
DPLGA secretary Dickson Guina, while handing over the equipment, thanked the Simbu administration for its support towards the project in the province.
He urged all LLG managers and officers to work with the RSDP community development workers (CDWs) and technical facilitators to ensure the project was effectively and efficiently implemented in each of the LLGs.
“This project is important and will have an impact in the lives of our rural folk,” Guina said.
Simbu administrator Michael Temai thanked RSDP for the timely assistance.
He said the assistance would go a long way in boosting the capacity of the four LLGs and would speed up the progress of the project’s implementation.
