Fund plans to relocate settlers

NAMBAWAN Super Ltd (NSL) will look at a piece of customary land to relocate squatters at its K100 million 9-Mile Bush Wara land.
Chief investment officer David Kitchnoge told The National that the fund would treat the squatters with respect when moving them out from the 197 hectares of land.
“Legally (we) could go in anytime and get our land back but we are a major fund in the country, the people although they are squatting illegally are Papua New Guineans and some of them are members of our fund as well so we have to treat them with respect,” Kitchnoge said.
“In the process of getting our land back, we cannot just displace them.
“We have been working on a programme with our project manager to try and make the community aware of the fact that we own that land and they are squatting illegally and we will be looking to relocate them to another place to get the land back.
“The initial plan was to try and work around a solution with the National Capital District Commission to see if they have other land of the same value and size within the city to swap so we can take that land and leave 9-Mile, (but) NCDC does not have a land like that.”
