THE Rai Coast 2012 acquittal was submitted last week to the Office of Rural Development (ORD), MP James Gau says.

He said this was in line with the organic law which required every electorate and government organisation to acquit returns to the ORD before receiving 2013 funding.

He said Rai Coast was the ninth to submit their acquittals and they were looking forward to receiving their 2013 funding.

Present for the presentation of the acquittals were Rai Coast district administrator Michael Pamaraka, district treasurer Peter Raykon, district accountant George Memke and Works Department representative Kenneth Moi.

He said education and infrastructure were the main focus for development in the electorate.

He said Rai Coast was one of the least developed districts in Madang and to boost education, they had spent around K1.2 million on a district school fee assistance programme.

“We assisted students especially in tertiary institutions and colleges by paying 70% of their school fees,” he said.

“Plans for the funding of the construction of Yowor and Minjeng bridges in the district is also being looked at.”
