GAZELLE development authority (DDA)’s seven strategic objectives outlined in the East New Britain (ENB) Fiscal Framework 2021-2022 will progress the district, Gazelle MP Jelta Wong says.
“We will use available resources optimally to promote economic development through secondary processing, encouraging community participation and promoting family life,” he said.
“This will entail improving the effectiveness of local level governments and minimising law and order problems.”
Speaking in Kokopo last Friday, Wong said the DDA needed to revitalise ENB’s economy of ENB and the vision had been in place for more than 10 years, earmarking Kerevat township and the district as the industrial hub of the province.
“This is in line with the Prime Minister James Marape’s speech in the 11th Parliament on Aug 9 that this generation of leaders must liberate Papua New Guinea through economic independence,” he said.
“Economic independence means that our people must have the means and the ability to benefit from their own resources, they must be the biggest beneficiaries of the land and what it offers.
“It is important that we go back to basics and build from the ground up.”
Wong appealed to all in ENB to review their economic and business agenda to spur socio-economic growth.
