ROUND six of the Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association (PMWSA) ran alongside a gender-based violence (GBV) awareness at the Bisini Diamonds on Saturday.
“For GBV awareness, we had Femili PNG set up a booth,” PMWSA president Ian Soweni said.
“We marked the weekend’s games with purple and carried out awareness.
“With the help of Claire Wut, PMWSA had Mibank on the diamonds to carry out promotions.
“This was a chance for those who found it difficult to open bank accounts because of the stringent commercial bank requirements.”
Meanwhile, Soweni said adjustments to the competition’s “fully loaded” concept were carried out over the weekend.
“The weekend saw us trial five innings in the games with rules added for one hour, 15 minutes of game time or five innings, whichever comes first,” he said.
“The ‘run ahead’ rule will also apply after three innings.”
Competition organisers last week also stressed the importance of safety for players and supporters with the venue fences rusting.
“Please inform your players, supporters and children to be very mindful of battered balls, especially with many holes in the fence,” PMWSA said.
“We all need to safeguard each other.”
