JUNIOR divisions in the Motu-Koitabu West Netball Association had thrilling grand finals at Hanuabada on Saturday.
Grand finalists in the U10, U13, U15 and U17 divisions played their matches in front of a vocal crowd at the Taura Oval.
In the U17 division, Gedu Rocks put up a strong defence in the dying stages to hold out Lagu Milky 20-16.
The rough playing surface did little to hinder the players as they braved the scorching heat of the National Capital District to remain competitive, especially in defence and mid-court.
Gedu Rocks goal shooter Lucyanna Ronnie had 11 points and goal attack Ranu Heni bagged nine to help their side clinch the U17 title.
At halftime, it was 9-6 in favour of Lagu Milky with goal shooter Sandy Ila and goal attack Vivian Suria on target.
But the pair lost their composure in the final three quarters as Gedu Rockets pulled away.
Gabi Warriors and K Makana played a nail-biting grand final in the U10 division, with players from both sides battling it out in all departments of the match.
But K Makana had the last laugh, winning 11-10.
This was a learning curve for the girls, as they got their first taste of competitive netball.
Nevertheless, they all put up a spirited performance to keep the crowd entertained.
In the U15 division, Hetura stopped Gedu Rocks 22-20.
In U13 division, K Makana clinched their second title after defeating Gabi Warriors 21-18.
