Oceania Football Confederation Champions League-bound Morobe Wawens have signed German-based player Xinua Micah for the 2018-2019 National Soccer League season.
Micah, the son of former Kavieng MP Ben Micah, flew into the country three weeks ago and travelled to Lae yesterday to bolster the Wawens’ chances in the NSL and champions league.
Wawens team manager Peter Seske said the club was privileged to secure Micah’s services.
“We are so happy to sign him,” Seske said.
“We have heard of his progress as a boy being scouted in Singapore by Arsenal.
“After some years at their academy in England, he was picked by a German club playing in the fourth division below the Bundesliga.
“Now he is coming to PNG to support the PNG Football Association’s dream of going to the Fifa World Cup.”
Micah said he was happy to be in the country and to play for the Wawens in the NSL and the champions league.
“I decided to take a long break and I am looking forward to train with my teammates and help where I can,” Micah said.
“I’ve seen games at the Bisini Soccer Grounds and I believe we have the talent.
“I have been abroad for a while and I feel that the time is right for me to come back and help where I can while I’m still young.
“I still have time to fulfil my dream of becoming a professional player at the senior level abroad.”
The 23-year-old, from Mussau in New Ireland, said he was happy with developments in football.
